Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool & Die Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our tool room. This role is responsible for supervising tool makers and machinists, managing the maintenance, repair, and fabrication of dies, tools, jigs, fixtures, and ensuring tooling is available and in optimal condition to meet production demands. The successful candidate will have a strong background in precision tooling and leadership skills to lead a team of toolmakers and machinists to ensure efficient, high-quality support for production, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, precision and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise the daily activities of tool room personnel, prepare performance evaluation as required and or needed, work with HR regarding employee discipline or performance deficiencies. Plan and prioritize workloads to ensure tooling is available for production as scheduled. Support new tooling design, new product launches and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure proper use of toolroom equipment, including CNC machines, lathes, grinders, welding and Wire EDM equipment. Monitor inventory levels of tool room supplies and materials, initiate procurement when necessary. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with tooling, dies, and fixtures. Oversee the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of tools and dies. Maintain accurate records of tooling usage, tooling maintenance, and production support requests. Implement and enforce safety procedures and best practices in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Drive process improvement to reduce downtime, improve tool life, and enhance manufacturing efficiency. Confers with vendors to determine production specifications and arranges for the purchase of equipment, tooling, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. Estimates production cost to provide information for management decisions and confers with management, engineering, regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules. Applies SPC and statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. High School Diploma or GED required; associate or technical certification in tool and die, machining, Journeyman Tool and Die certificate or related field required. Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in a tool & die environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of tool room operations, precision machining, die design, and tool making processes. Proficient in reading technical drawings, and working with CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam. Working knowledge Faro Arm would be a plus. Excellent leadership, problem solving and communication skills. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes, or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock.
