Tool and Die Team Leader Starting Pay:
$39.89 – $47.36 Per Hour Based Upon Experience & Skill Level $10,000 total relocation assistance available for Team Members relocating greater than 75 miles away from Mazda Toyota Manufacturing and moving within 50 miles to Mazda Toyota Manufacturing. Five (5) additional days off for relocation needs (in addition to the 15 days PTO in the first calendar year, prorated in hire year). $3,500 Sign on
Bonus:
$1,000 paid at 60 days of employment, $2,500 at 120 days of employment. Position Description The Tool and Die Team Leader is responsible for scheduling the daily activities of the Tool and Die maintenance team members to ensure that all PM’s, repairs, engineering changes along with all other Tool and Die tasks and procedures are completed to the highest standards. This role involves supervising a team of up to eight team members, managing the shop floor, collaborating with production scheduling dies going toto and coming from production for die work, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, creating work orders for all tasks and maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities. Duties /
Responsibilities Team Supervision & Leadership:
Lead, motivate, coach, and lead a team of Tool and Die team members. Provide training and guidance to team members on standard work, safety standards, and all tasks performed in the Tool and Die department. Schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks, ensuring quality, efficiency and minimal disruption to production needs. Conduct audits based on safety, 5S, and provide feedback to GL and AM, and prioritize team development.
Maintenance & Repairs:
Oversee and participate in the repair, line calls, and maintenance of machines, equipment, the Die shop and dies. Conduct regular inspections to identify equipment malfunctions or areas requiring maintenance. Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and that issues are addressed promptly to minimize downtime. Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and electrical problems.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure all Tool and Die activities are carried out in compliance with department safety standards, local regulations, and industry’s best practices. Lead and promote a culture of safety within the Tool and Die team, performing regular safety audits and ensuring the team adheres to safety protocols. Maintain proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that all tools and machinery are properly maintained and safe for use.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records for maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts. Ensure that essential parts and materials are available when needed and manage stock levels to avoid downtime. Coordinate with Group Leaders to source required materials and spare parts
Documentation & Reporting:
Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts used. Report to management regarding maintenance performance, operational downtime, project and daily task status. Use Maximo software to track maintenance tasks and generate reports.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost-saving measures in the maintenance function. Stay up to date with new technologies, techniques, and industry trends to implement best practices. Review, revise, and create standard work using Microsoft Excel Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Strong technical knowledge of die function, design, and metal forming Experience with maintenance tracking software (Maximo) is a plus. Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues. Strong commitment to safety and compliance with relevant regulations. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
What will set you apart:
3-5 years as a Tool and Die team leader in the automotive stamping industry required Tool and Die journeyman certificate or proven 10+ year work history in automotive Tool and Die required. (Class A experience preferred)
Working Conditions:
Manufacturing plant (Stamping Department) Rotating shifts every 4 weeks, weekend work when necessary, depending on the company’s operations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 40 pounds). Capability to perform physical tasks, such as standing, bending, lifting, and using power tools.
