Position Summary
Bishop State Community College is seeking a full-time, experienced Machine Tool Instructor/Project Lead to join our team. This position is integral to the development and expansion of our submarine construction programs, focusing on cutting-edge technologies such as 3-D metal ing to support the maritime industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver high-quality instructional materials and curriculum for machine tool technology and related disciplines.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to ensure curriculum aligns with current workforce needs and technological advancements.
  • Recruit and retain students for machine tool technology programs, promoting the importance of skills development in the maritime industrial base.
  • Serve as a project lead for initiatives related to submarine construction programs, coordinating efforts across departments and with external partners.
  • Maintain a safe and effective learning environment, adhering to best practices in instructional delivery and technical training.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback and support to enhance learning oues.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in machine tool technology and 3-D metal ing.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness and industry knowledge.
  • Assist in grant writing and securing funding for program expansion and resource development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Workforce and Economic Development and/or the President.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Ten (10) years of technical experience in machine tool technology or related field.
  • Five (5) years of teaching experience in a related field.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Earned Train the Trainer- PMI Certification from NC3 in order to teach and issue credentials.
  • Earned Haas Operator credentials for CNC Mill and CNC Lathe.
  • Earned NIMS Credentials for CNC Mill and CNC Lathe.
  • Earned NIMS Credentials for CNC Mill Programming and CNC Lathe Programming.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience in curriculum development and student recruitment, particularly in machine tool technology.
  • Familiarity with the maritime industry and submarine construction processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with industry partners and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to learn and implement new technologies, particularly in 3-D metal ing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with industry partners and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of machine tools and related equipment.
  • Stronganizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and writtenmunication skills, capable of effectively conveyingplex information to diverse audiences
  • Ability to foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging student engagement and participation.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Learned physical skill is required for keyboarding. Frequent walking, standing, or sitting may be required. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.
