Position Summary:
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama LLC seeks New Model Launch Engineer for its facility in Montgomery, Alabama. Position is responsible for supporting new vehicle and tooling launches in assigned areas, as well as continuous improvement initiatives for production processes. Receives equipment specifications, new vehicle specifications, and other technical documentation from Korean-based headquarters and vendors, then supports team with review and implementation tasks.
Daily duties include:
Essential Functions:
Receive and review technical documentation and communications from Korean headquarters for new model and tooling projects (daily);
Conduct feasibility studies and assessments of integrating vehicle designs with existing equipment processes and work flows (monthly);
Support development of new model or tooling project scope and milestones, and coordinate with key employees within Purchasing, Production, Quality, and other departments to determine launch requirements and schedules (monthly);
Review specifications for new or modified equipment and interact with Korean-based vendors to coordinate development and changes, commissioning, and testing/trials (weekly);
Prepare periodic reports to management, in English and Korean language, on launch progress, technical issues encountered, and proposed solutions; (daily);
Conduct FMEA and resolve safety, process, and quality issues for new model launch equipment and process flows (as required);
Communicate with Korean headquarters and equipment vendors to troubleshoot equipment and process malfunctions and product quality concems (as required);
Provide technical interpretation and subject matter expertise for Korean visitors representing headquarters and equipment vendors while onsite for commissioning, service, and production trials (weekly);
Review technical documents such as operations manuals, work instructions, equipment maintenance manuals, to ensure accuracy according to engineering specifications and correct Korean/English term usage (daily).
Position Requirements:
Must have Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering (foreign equivalent accepted). Must be able to read, write and speak Korean and English language fluently. Must have training or experience with tool & dies development and/or manufacturing processes. Must have training or experience with metal stamping, welding/brazing, or hemming. Employer will accept academic or employment training/experience. Must demonstrate competency with GD&T and CAD modeling.
