Reporting to the Materials Manager, the Tooling Asset Specialist is responsible for efficiently performing and monitoring all tool inspections, maintenance, and issuance of hand tools for the day-to-day functions of a major fabrication and/or assembly plant line. They’ll be responsible for the creation and implementation of an organized tool crib and tool check out system. Roles & Responsibilities Tool organization and tracking, including: Establish and organize a tool crib, consumable Kanban system, and/or shadow boards as necessary. Manage Kanban quantities of tool consumables and order. Complete daily tool inventory. Locate lost or misplaced tools and equipment. Monitor timely delivery and installation of replacement components. Monitor issuance of all tools and notify Production Supervisor of discrepancies. Tool repair and replacement, including: Establish and provide oversight to tool repair vended services as necessary. Examine and inspect tools for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors. Document all inspections and/or repairs as per written or verbal protocols for future reference. Support preventive maintenance and basic tool repairs as needed. Replacement of normal tool consumables as necessary. Assists in maintaining calibrated tools in accordance with company policies. The Tooling Asset Specialist will also be required to: Adheres to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. Maintains good housekeeping practices, disposing of waste properly, sweeping the area, etc. Responsibilities may require sedentary work, including but not limited to computer operation, video review, classroom or online training, job observations/inspections, and peer work review. Prepare for AS9100 and other audits. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Two to three years’ experience in a manufacturing setting; one year of experience in tooling, preferred. Mechanical aptitude and experience supporting tooling procedures and processes. Ability to communicate effectively with leadership and team members, both orally and in writing. Thorough understanding of tooling processes and procedures; mechanic aptitude. Must be able to use all varieties of precision measuring instruments. Has a high attention to detail and thorough in their standard daily work and operations. Natural problem solver who acts with a sense of urgency, yet manages their time based on competing priorities.
