Job Description
Tool and Die Maker 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Shannon, MS 38868 Crown Staffing is currently seeking an experienced Tool and Die Maker to fill an opening with a local Manufacturing company in Shannon, MS. The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for the construction, repair, maintenance, and modification of precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges used in manufacturing. This role ensures that tools and dies are made to exact specifications to support production operations in a high-volume industrial factory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals. Set up and operate machine tools (e.g., lathes, grinders, milling machines, EDM) to produce or modify precision parts and tools. Build, assemble, and test dies and tools for stamping, molding, forging, or cutting operations. Diagnose and troubleshoot tooling issues; perform repairs and preventative maintenance. Measure and inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges). Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop tooling for new products or processes. Maintain accurate records of tool usage, maintenance, and modifications. Follow all safety protocols and ensure the work area is clean and organized.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; completion of an apprenticeship or vocational training in tool and die making preferred. 3+ years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker in an industrial or factory setting. Strong knowledge of machining practices, materials, and metallurgy. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. Proficiency in using CNC and manual machining equipment. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is a plus. Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods. Manual dexterity for precise machining tasks. Use of PPE (personal protective equipment) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
Work Environment:
Factory setting with exposure to noise, machinery, metal shavings, and lubricant oils. Requires adherence to safety standards and proper handling of machinery and tools.
