Tool and Die Manager 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Tupelo, MS 38801 Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Tooling Manager to oversee the design, development, and maintenance of tooling and fixtures used in our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in machining and fabrication, with expertise in CAD software and various machining techniques. This role is critical to ensuring the efficiency and quality of our production operations. Duties Lead the tooling department in the design and fabrication of tools, dies, and fixtures to support production needs. Utilize CAD software, such as SolidWorks, to create detailed designs and specifications for tooling projects. Oversee the machining processes, including lathe operations, electrical discharge machining, and plastics injection molding. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure tooling meets product specifications and quality standards. Conduct regular inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to ensure tool accuracy. Manage tooling inventory and coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize downtime. Train and mentor team members on best practices in tooling design and fabrication techniques. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling efficiency and reduce waste. Experience Proven experience in a tooling or machining environment, with a strong understanding of fabrication processes. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) for designing tooling components. Familiarity with machining techniques including lathe work, electrical discharge machining, and plastics injection molding. Strong mathematical skills for precise measurements and calculations related to tool design. Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers is essential. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required for this role. Previous leadership or management experience is preferred but not mandatory. Must be a leader and able to prioritize jobs.  Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral  Minimum 10 years experience in similar position  Proficient in Microsoft office  High level of time management  Tool and Die Certificate  Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively in one on one and group situations.  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference as well as apply basic mathematics principles.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Operate all tool and die room equipment  Good understanding of ISO, SPC and QS systems
