Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join our Manufacturing team in Fletcher, NC. This role is responsible for designing, constructing, repairing, and modifying tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures to support our machining and production operations. The ideal candidate will have strong machining experience, a deep understanding of fabrication techniques, and the ability to produce high-precision components. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders) to cut, bore, grind, and shape parts to precise specifications. Conduct test runs of tools or dies to confirm accuracy and make adjustments as needed. Read and interpret complex blueprints, sketches, and models to plan the sequence of operations. Measure, mark, and scribe raw stock using micrometers, rulers, scribes, and other measuring tools. Assemble and fit parts to create or repair jigs, dies, gauges, and custom tooling. Select metals and materials based on hardness, heat tolerance, and project needs. Drill and tap holes using drill presses to support part assembly. Polish and finish tool surfaces using power grinders, emery cloths, or abrasive stones. Inspect parts for accuracy using precision instruments such as dial indicators, calipers, and gauge blocks. Develop and design new tools using CAD software. Cast plastic or carbide components using pre-fabricated molds. Assist in heat-treating operations using pyrometers and furnaces. Support and train team members on machining techniques as needed. Qualifications & Skills Proven experience as a Toolmaker; state certification preferred. Proficient in manual mill, lathe, and surface grinder operation. EDM Wire experience strongly preferred. Experience with prototype CNC machining is a plus. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve fabrication inconsistencies. Able to manufacture parts to close tolerances consistently. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to company standards. Willingness to work overtime as needed.
