Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Toolmaker to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of tool room equipment, as well as the fabrication and development of tools, fixtures, and prototypes to support production operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong machining and bench work skills, and demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision while supporting team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate all tool room equipment to produce high-precision components.
Perform complex machining operations utilizing advanced setups and methods to maintain extremely close tolerances and precise fits.
Conduct highly skilled bench work, including fitting, assembling, adjusting, and testing tools and components to ensure proper functionality.
Develop tooling solutions and fabricate prototypes such as jigs and fixtures from 2D drawings or sketches.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to tools, fixtures, and prototype development.
Assist in or perform production setups and operations when needed.
Provide guidance, direction, and support to less experienced toolmakers and production setup personnel.
Maintain accurate records and documentation as required for tooling, maintenance, and production processes.
Keep work area and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including good housekeeping and security practices.
Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing and tooling operations.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
High School Diploma or GED preferred; Or GSP equivalent.
5-10 years of relevant toolmaking or manufacturing experience, depending on level of assignment.
Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
Proficient in interpreting and utilizing various inputs from multiple sources (e.g., drawings, specifications, feedback).
Demonstrated ability to analyze needs, design and troubleshoot solutions, and develop successful tooling or product outcomes.
Understanding of broad manufacturing processes and procedures within the company.
Skilled in using a wide variety of machine tools, processes, and methods.
Able to complete and maintain required company records and documentation accurately.
Self-directed, with the ability to work independently and follow through on assignments from start to finish.
