Job Summary:
As a Polishing Technician I at Bond Optics, you will be responsible for assisting in continuous polishing and precision testing processes and general maintenance of polishing equipment. You will work under the supervision of experienced technicians and engineers to perform various tasks related to optical fabrication and testing with a focus on polishing methods. This entry-level position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within the field of precision optics manufacturing.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of optical components for polishing processes.
- Operate, maintain, and clean bespoke continuous polishing machines and interferometers.
- Perform basic measurements with interferometers and interpret the results to inform the following operations and ensure parts meet all specified requirements.
- Follow established procedures and protocols to ensure the accuracy and precision of manufactured optics.
- Inspect parts for basic cosmetic nonconformances to ensure they meet all specified requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in precision optics manufacturing.
Required Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes. Qualifications (Education and Experience):
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical training preferred.
- Basic understanding of optical principles and terminology is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to manually lift and handle components in the 15 to 50 lb. range on a frequent basis.
- Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to handle delicate optical components and perform precise assembly tasks.
- Must have adequate vision or corrected vision to inspect optical components using microscopes and other visual inspection tools.
- Must demonstrate strong fine motor skills to perform intricate tasks such as polishing optics, mounting lenses, and adjusting optical instruments.
Working Hours:
- 11:00 PM
- 7:30 AM (3rd shift) with a 30-minute meal break.
- The first 90 days of training will occur during 1st (day) shift (7:00 AM
- 3:30 PM).
- 3rd shift employees receive a 15% shift differential.
