- This plant manufactures 2-piece and 3-piece steelcans for the food industry over various shift operations. TheHanover Plant is located on Rt 94 in York County and is in closeproximity to York, PA, Gettysburg, PA, and the Maryland border.

Position Overview:
The Toolroom Technician, reporting directly to the ManufacturingManager, is responsible for maintaining an appropriate supply ofmachine tooling as directed to maintain the plant’s operatingcapability.
Duties And Responsibilities:
The Toolroom Technician’s responsibilities would include, but notbe limited to the following:
- Visually inspect machine tooling for wear and damage usingmicroscopes, magnifying glasses or other tools as needed anddisposition tool as necessary. Polish machine tooling using dedicated fixed equipment in thetoolroom or other hand power tools on the floor as needed
- Read and interpret machine and tooling engineering drawings andbill of materials.
- Measure machine tooling using precision measuring tooling.
- Record dimensional data in company SPC software.
- Track machine tooling consumption on spreadsheets to assistwith predictive maintenance needs. Collect and use data to identify trends. Manage machine tooling inventory so the department has anadequate supply of machine tooling. Identify new tooling purchase needs, obtain quoted and submitpurchase requisitions to keep the toolroom supplied with adequatetooling inventory.
- Have a thorough understanding of how cupping press andbodymaker tooling works.
- Assist with machine troubleshooting. Packages used tooling and ship out for rework.
- Receive new tooling, sort by side and store in toolroom inappropriate location.
- Develop training material utilizing Microsoft, Word, Excel orPowerPoint to communicate tooling related processes and betspractices to the team installing and utilizing the machine toolingand checking tooling in and out of inventory.
- Operating a forklift to move tooling and inventory Cycle count parts/tooling as identified. Report inventory and usage of machine tooling monthly bymachine monthly or as requested.
- Maintain housekeeping excellence in the toolroom, or otherareas as assigned.
Follow plant safety rules and policies; participate in safetyprograms. Perform other job duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements Mechanical aptitude to understand various parts/equipmentspecifications (part dimensions, bore sizes, tooling stacktolerances, machine tooling best practices, engineering drawings,etc.) At least one year of demonstrated precision measuringexperience utilizing micrometers, dial indicators, surface plates
- Advanced computer abilities, Microsoft Office, Email, Excel,Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to read and utilize precision measuring tools (ex.micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, rulers, etc.) Ability to interpret engineering drawings. Ability to operate a forklift. Effective communication skills dealing with internal TeamMembers and external Vendors, etc. Basic math abilities Must be available to
- work various shifts if needed to provideadditional support.
Preferred Requirements:
High School Education/GED Basic understanding of can manufacturing process and themake/model of the major plant machinery. Knowledge of all OSHA related training in a manufacturingenvironment. 6S Training Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the associate isregularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with handsand arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, orcrawl.
- The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand/walk for 8-12-hour shifts. Close vision, distance vision, color vision and/or ability toadjust focus. Working Conditions Generally, works in a toolroom environment but may be required toperform some job duties in a manufacturing production floorsetting. While performing the duties of this job, the team members will beexposed to light lifting, warehouse forklift traffic, and a rangeof temperatures. Production noise level is frequently loud.
