Role:
Southern Lumber and Millwork is a family owned and operated business for over 80 years in Charleston, SC. We are seeking an organized tooling machinist to join the team in our tool room creating and maintain custom knives for running specialty moulding.
Responsibilities include:
Grinding moulding custom knives. Maintaining current knives for proper and safe use in the moulding machines. Utilize templates, computer software, and categorization for organization of materials. Sharp attention to detail. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and tooling processes. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and coordinate measuring machines. Proficient in blueprint reading and mechanical knowledge. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Maintain and calibrate tools, ensuring adherence to quality standards. Collaborate with team members to optimize production processes and implement lean manufacturing practices. Patience as you may troubleshoot and resolve issues with machining equipment as needed.
Prior Experience:
The ideal candidate will have experience in grinding metal, machining, lean manufacturing, and crafting custom knife profiles. Interest in metalworking and is coachable.
