Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support critical plant operations at our Jacksonville location. This role goes far beyond traditional maintenance work—you’ll be responsible for maintaining and operating complex mechanical systems that play a vital role in wastewater treatment. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in pump, valve, piping, and tank systems, as well as electrical and welding experience, and thrives in a hands-on, industrial environment.

Shift Requirements:
Initial Training:

Weekdays, 8:00 AM – 4:00

PM Ongoing Schedule:

May shift to 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM or other adjusted hours based on plant needs

Weekend/On-Call Availability Required Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Maintenance:

Perform routine service, diagnostics, and repairs on pumps (including Gorman-Rupp and Grundfos), motors, air compressors, valves, tanks, and related infrastructure.

Piping & Valve Systems:

Inspect, repair, and maintain piping networks, tank fittings, flow paths, and control valves.

Heavy Equipment Operation:

Learn and operate key treatment equipment such as industrial and grease-water DAFs, Tricanter centrifuges, tank level indicators, and flowmeters.

Electrical & PLC Support:

Conduct basic electrical repairs, troubleshoot faults, and interact with PLC systems and computerized control interfaces.

Welding & Fabrication:

Use welding tools to repair or fabricate railings, ladders, stairwells, tank supports, and other facility structures.

Boiler Systems:

Perform routine service and minor repairs on boiler equipment (certification a plus).

Waste Stream Treatment:

Assist with the treatment process, including solids removal, sludge management, water sampling, and material testing.

Facility Maintenance:

Take part in general facility upkeep, including fencing, structural metalwork, and environmental safety initiatives.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with plant operators and leadership to maintain safe and effective plant operations.

Qualifications:
Education:

High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred.

Experience:

3-5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial, wastewater, or utility setting Demonstrated experience with pumps, valves, tanks, and piping systems Electrical background including LOTO, troubleshooting, and basic circuitry Exposure to PLC systems and computer-based control panels Welding and light fabrication experience Familiarity with DAF systems, sludge handling, and wastewater operations Knowledge of boiler systems is highly desirable Heavy equipment operation experience a plus Why Join LES?
