Work Schedule is a floating schedule with some weeks that includes overtime, weekends and holidays. Hours are 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Employee works five days on with one day off then works four days on with two days off.

Education, Training and Experience:

Graduation from a standard high school or GED; two (2) years’ experience.
Special requirements:
Must possess a valid Florida driver license.
Florida class “C” water or class “C” wastewater plant operator’s licenses.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for operation and maintenance and repair of the water/wastewater treatment facility.
Responsible for regular inspections of the treatment plant, well sites, and storage systems.
Add chemicals, such as ammonia, chlorine, or lime to disinfect and deodorize water and other liquids.
Inspect equipment or monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirement and defect malfunctions.
Collet and test water and sewage samples, using test equipment and color analysis standards.
Record operational data, personal attendance, or meter and gauge readings on specified forms.
Maintain, repair, and lubricate equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
Clean and maintain tanks, filter beds, and other work areas, using hand tools and power tools.
Direct and coordinate plant workers engaged in routine operations and maintenance activities.
Assure safe and efficient operation and inspections of various equipment such as pumps of various types, chlorinators, and equipment.
Perform duties of water/wastewater operator during certain shifts or during emergencies.
Operate and maintain belt press.
Perform preventive maintenance and keep records.
Operation of various laboratory equipment, pickup trucks, air compressors, backhoe, push and riding mower, weed eaters, dump truck, and various hand tools.
Clean work areas.
Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

This is skilled, specialized work in the operation of a water/wastewater facility. This is supervisory and advanced independent work with the responsibility for the continuous operation and maintenance of the water/wastewater treatment facility. Position requires evaluating information to determine compliance with standards, monitoring processes, materials and surroundings, identifying objects, actions and events, observing and otherwise obtaining information from relevant sources, inspecting equipment, structures and materials, documenting and recording information, making decision and solving problems, and communicating with supervisors and coworkers. Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks, dependability, integrity, independence, stress tolerance, initiative, and analytical thinking.
