You will be responsible for the day-to-day activities and permit requirements for each site. You must maintain the day-to-day operation which will include but not be limited to daily field testing, equipment inspection, tank sludge and scum monitoring and pumping and reporting. You will be responsible for submitting field reports and completing monthly DEP reports when necessary. Your direct reporting supervisor will be the V.P. of Operations.

Specific Service Duties:
  • Monitor all wastewater treatment facility and pump station equipment.
  • Assess the facility flow conditions and make process adjustments as needed.
  • Record daily flow volumes as well as elapse time meters readings on all equipment.
  • Replace online monitoring charts and archive historical charts onsite.
  • Perform daily process control testing and maintain records of the results.
  • Make any necessary process control adjustments to ensure that the treatment process will be operating within its desired range.
  • Monitor treatment chemicals inventories and order and receive chemicals as necessary.
  • Inspect and monitor the sludge and grease levels in the septic tanks and schedule the pumping of solids (grease/sludge) from external pumping and hauling company.
  • Respond to alarm calls. (24 hours a day 7 days a week)
  • Execute work orders (a client requested service beyond that required by the service contract).
  • Submit field reports and service logs to the manager.
  • Collect samples in accordance with MassDEP Permits.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to MassDEP. File Groundwater Discharge Permits using the eDEP online filing system.
  • File Reports with Barnstable County and any other State or town as needed.
  • Interact with clients as needed to explain services provided, system conditions, parts replaced, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system mechanical/electrical problems and corrective actions needed.
  • Replace system components as needed (pumps, fans, electrical components, etc.).
  • Take the training courses required to maintain your Massachusetts WWTP operator’s License (TCH).
  • Cover sick days and vacations for your co-worker’s daily groundwater discharge permitted sites.
  • Maintain an “Active” MA Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License Grade 4 or higher. If not currently “Active” must take the necessary steps to achieve and carry an “Active” status.
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance to ensure that the treatment plant continues to operate efficiently and without interruption.

Routine maintenance will include the following: o Normal maintenance of all equipment per manufacturer’s instructions including such items as changing of oil, repacking of seals, and parts lubrication. o Cleaning and maintenance of the treatment plant buildings

Job Requirements:

Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and problem solve. Must Maintain a valid driver license. Local and countrywide travel may be required. Familiarity with windows operating systems (Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook). Required to develop a strong understanding of AquaPoint products and processes. Required to develop a strong understanding of general wastewater treatment equipment and design principles. Required to develop a general understanding of mechanical/electrical systems and use of multi-Meter. Required to work with power tools. Must be able to lift 50lbs or less on any given day.
