Water Distribution and Sewer Collection Foreman Town of Athol 338 Unity Avenue, Athol, MA 01331 Athol Department of Public Works Water Division Job Posting The Athol DPW is currently posting for a “Primary Water Distribution Operator / Sewer Collection Operator”. This is a 40 hour per week union benefited position. This position reports to the DPW Superintendent. The Town of Athol requires a Massachusetts Distribution 2 and Treatment 2 public water supply license. Massachusetts Cross Connection Control survey and backflow tester are also part of the operator’s position responsibilities. Commercial Driving and Hoisting Licenses are required for DPW staff. This position supplements the Treatment staff as needed with aspects of the water treatment system. Athol is a community of 12,000 people with a very progressive DPW water division. The division operates 4 drinking water wells, and (2) small treatment plants. The Athol DPW understands that fully licensed water operators are very difficult to recruit and have and encourage applicants with the drive and desire to protect and produce this valuable and precious resource to apply. Starting wages are $36.06 – $42.00/hour based on qualifications and experience. Athol is willing to train the right applicant, should the applicant not currently hold all certifications. Responsibilities Oversee the operation and maintenance of water distribution and sewer collection systems during normal and emergency operations. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain accurate data collection records. Operate heavy equipment and perform routine inspections and repairs. Supervise team members (up to 6), providing guidance and training as needed. Manage construction projects related to water treatment and wastewater collection systems.
