• 955 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Columbia, MO The purpose of this job is to perform lead work on an assigned shift performing a variety of tasks to ensure the proper treatment of wastewater and to sustain regulated permit limits. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description Monitors treatment plant, observes operating conditions, and interprets meter and gauge readings. Trains other operators and directs their tasks. Samples wastewater and performs tests. Performs cleaning and janitorial duties throughout plant. Records data from meters, gauges, and control panels. Troubleshoots operational and equipment problems. Conducts pressure washing of wastewater clarifiers and aeration basins. Operates forklift or hand-truck to move materials, supplies, equipment, and collected debris. Prepares work and maintenance repair orders. Performs minor and preventative maintenance. Assists in major maintenance and repair activities. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Work requires providing guidance and the potential to oversee another employee. This position may oversee work quality, training, instructing, and work assignments. • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered Education and Experience High School or equivalent.

5 years’ experience in wastewater operations. Licenses or Certifications Valid Missouri “D” level wastewater operator’s certificate required. Valid Missouri “A” level wastewater operator’s certificate within 6 months of hire. Valid driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position

Knowledge of:

Wastewater treatment and hydraulics practices and procedures. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Common business software applications such as Microsoft Office.

Skill in:

Maintaining accurate records. Organizing and maintaining attention to detail. Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience. Applying active listening and asking questions for understanding. Estimating time and materials needed to complete jobs.

Ability to:

Hours/Days 12 hour shifts either 7 am to 7 pm for day shift or 7 pm to 7 am for night shift. One week working Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and another week working Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. Will definitely be on night shift during the first year of employment.
