We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Wastewater Area Manager to join our team in Mississippi. The Wastewater Area Manager will oversee operations across 10 wastewater treatment facilities (ranging from 0.25 MGD to 16 MGD), 54 lift stations, and 700 grinder stations. The successful candidate will manage a diverse team of 55 employees, including Mississippi Class IV and Class II Wastewater Operators, Operators in Training, Electricians, SCADA Technicians, Mechanics, Wastewater Lab Technicians, and Laborers. This role reports directly to a Utility Authority board comprising seven mayors, requiring exceptional communication skills and technical expertise.

Work with a dedicated and skilled team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and performance of all wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, and grinder stations. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 55 employees, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and professional growth.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including Mississippi Class IV wastewater standards. Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize facility performance and reliability. Collaborate with the Utility Authority board, presenting reports, budgets, and operational plans with clarity and professionalism. Coordinate with SCADA technicians and electricians to maintain and troubleshoot control systems.
Manage maintenance schedules for equipment and infrastructure, working closely with mechanics and laborers.
Oversee laboratory testing and quality control processes with wastewater lab technicians. Handle stakeholder communications, including addressing concerns from the board and community leaders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Environmental, or related field) preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations or a related field, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
Mississippi Class IV Wastewater Operator certification preferred but not required. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to non-technical audiences (e.g., Utility Authority board). Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience managing diverse technical teams. In-depth knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, SCADA systems, and facility maintenance. Proficiency in budgeting, project management, and regulatory compliance. Well-spoken, professional, and confident in engaging with high-level stakeholders such as mayors and board members.
