Location:
Plant 37 is located in Hanover, PA. The Plant manufactures 2-pieceand 3-piece steel cans for the food industry. There areapproximately 95 employees at the Hanover location. The HanoverPlant is located on Route 194 in York County and is in closeproximity to York, PA, Gettysburg, PA and the Maryland border.
Position Overview:
Through the operation and maintenance of appropriate systems,ensure that a) cans are properly cleaned and wash coated, b) watereffluent released from the plant meets regulatory criteria forwater quality and c) coolant/lubricant used in can formation meetsspecifications. This position is scheduled 5:00pm-5:00am on ayearly rotational schedule. The hourly rate of pay starts at$29.83.

Duties And Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain the washer/wash coat system Operate and maintain coolant filtration system Monitor and operate wastewater treatment system. Perform process quality checks, standardize and maintain labequipment and instruments. Prepare manifests for non-hazardous solid waste removal.
- Preparedumpster for waste disposal.
Monitor and operate deionized water system and reverse osmosissystem. Check water hardness and inspect water softening equipment. Collect, measure, document, and manage spoilage in the washerarea. Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of waste treatment area,washer and coolant areas. Participate in periodic maintenance of equipment and direct teammembers from other areas in cleaning of wastewater treatment room,coolant system, and can washer. Assist in chemical inventory control by communicating usage andanticipated needs to applicable leadership team member,Manufacturing Supervisor or Manufacturing Manager. Communicate maintenance needs to applicable leadership team member,Manufacturing Supervisor or Manufacturing Manager Document activities in logbooks to provide communication to otherteam members. Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
Qualifications:
In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, theideal candidate will possess the following: Minimum Requirements Understand statistics and quality specifications. Ability to read and interpret monitoring gauges andcontrollers. Understand chemical handling procedures, including use of SDS,P.P.E., storage and disposal requirements. Basic knowledge of pumps and operations of fluid handlingsystems. Basic mechanical and computer skills. Basic math calculation abilities Able to work alternate work schedules including overtime, voluntaryand mandatory, based on business needs Preferred Requirements High School Education/GED Understanding of pH, metal solubility, conductivity, refractiveindex, ion exchange, basic fluid dynamics and flow diagrams. Understand concentration calculations. Class “D” wastewater operator certification preferred Working knowledge and knowledge of the theory of operation,function, location, maintenance, and troubleshooting of thefollowing systems:
- Wastewater treatment system:
- Systems control panels and programming/alarms Bulk storage area
- Can washer/wash coater/ovens Reverse Osmosis System
- DI System Coolant systems Competencies Strong problem-solving skills through an individual and/orcollaborative approach Ability to work independently or with a team Must be able to look at new solutions and “think outside thebox”
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyrequired to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms,and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
