Handex is on the move — and we want you to join us! We are currently seeking a highly motivated entry level Wastewater Operator Trainee to join our team in Vineland, NJ. As a Wastewater Operator Trainee, you will receive hands-on training to become a key member of our team, responsible for the operation and maintenance of groundwater treatment equipment and environmental remediation systems. These systems are located at various sites across Southern New Jersey, including wastewater treatment facilities, Superfund sites, and refineries. Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Operator in Charge, train to assist with daily operations and maintenance activities related to wastewater remediation. Develop the ability to monitor remediation equipment (e.g., meters, gauges, and controls) to identify issues and ensure optimal system performance. Learn to support process control and field testing of water, including recording and adjusting pH levels, handling process chemicals, and operating mixers, pumps, and metering devices. Assist with job site upkeep to maintain clear access to land wells and system components. Use hand tools, power tools, and precision equipment in accordance with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) guidelines. Learn, understand, and follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with fieldwork protocols. Stay informed about industry standards and emerging technologies in wastewater treatment and remediation to improve system performance and supportn ongoing professional development. Follow all required safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Train and perform additional duties as assigned.

Success:
A genuine interest in pursuing a career in wastewater operations. High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in wastewater operations is highly desirable. Mechanical and automotive training a plus too. N1 Wastewater Certification and/or OSHA 40-Hour
HAZWOPER
training is a plus but not required. Basic knowledge of and experience with hand tools and mechanical equipment. Ability to follow work instructions and perform physical tasks, including standing and walking for extended periods. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and environments, some requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Willingness and availability to work overtime when required. Strong reliability, teamwork, and work ethic are essential. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, along with a willingness to learn and grow within the role. Valid driver’s license in good standing, with the ability to pass background checks including criminal, drug/alcohol screening, and DMV review.
Salary Range:
