Job Summary:

The job includes the proficient operation and oversight of the waste water treatment facility in Vernon. Candidates will be required to monitor and evaluate the treatment process to ensure compliance with the Industrial Users Permit 14-001 issued by the Village of Vernon. Have a good understanding of the chemical and biological sciences involved in the aerobic and anaerobic waste water processes. Evaluate water and wastewater stream characteristics and be able to distinguish between normal and abnormal conditions in the water and wastewater streams. Regulate the flow of wastewater through the plant by controlling pumps, valves, blowers, and other operational equipment and be able to read meters, gauges, and other recording devices. Collecting samples, performing laboratory analyses and interpret results daily for a variety of measurement will be required. Maintain detailed ODS logs and records of the system performance, testing results, and daily rounds. Establish and maintain working relationships with external agencies such as (sanitation authorities, haulers, equipment vendors, and Village of Vernon representatives). Assist with scheduling and performing service and care for mechanical equipment according to a preventative maintenance schedule and as needed in the facility’s daily operation. Work with the maintenance clerk to order supplies, equipment, and chemicals as needed. Communicate daily with operations to monitor whey, water, and other waste streams that would have an effect on the waste water plant. Individual will be required to hold a valid forklift certification, work with computers, and should be able to operate a variety of tools to maintain the facility and grounds. Maintain all documented information as per SQF requirements. Keep all work areas, including storage areas, neat and clean at all times, to conform to GMP, Safety, and SQF requirements. Understand and follow all safety procedures, always wear proper PPE, and never put yourself or other employees in harm’s way. Must stay until job is completed or relieved. Must perform any other assignment by a Supervisor or Manager. This description is not all inclusive and is subject to change.
