Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Biglerville Borough Biglerville, PA 17307 Job Summary The Wastewater Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective treatment and management of wastewater. This position involves monitoring and maintaining wastewater treatment processes, operating equipment, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical skills and analytical abilities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of wastewater facilities. Duties Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and logic controllers. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on treatment equipment to ensure optimal performance. Analyze water samples to assess treatment efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards. Utilize basic math skills for calculations related to chemical dosing, flow rates, and other operational metrics. Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and water quality data. Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs or adjustments to equipment. Assist in the operation of tanker trucks for transporting wastewater or treated water as needed. Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe working environment and adherence to safety protocols. Possesses the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. Perform work in all weather conditions. Requirements Proven experience in wastewater treatment or a related field is preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to repair and maintain various types of equipment. Familiarity with water treatment processes and environmental regulations is an asset. Basic math skills for performing calculations related to operations. Ability to analyze data effectively and make informed decisions based on findings. Experience with logic controllers is beneficial for operating automated systems. A valid driver’s license may be required for operating tanker trucks or other vehicles as necessary. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role. Wastewater -Certified PA Class B, Subclass 1-4 Operator License. The ability and desire to obtain the operator’s license would be beneficial.
