Water Operator Trainee Position Available In Georgetown, South Carolina

Water Operator Trainee Georgetown County Water and Sewer District Pawleys Island, SC 29585 General Purpose Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the surface water treatment plant, and groundwater systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists in the daily operation and maintenance of groundwater well systems including hydrant flow operations. Assists in the operation of the surface water treatment plant including plant start up, shut down, filter operations and instituting alternative water supply procedures. Assists with basic water treatment plant and equipment maintenance and checks Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings Investigate customer water service quality issues Installs chlorine, ammonia, and sulfur dioxide cylinders Assists in performing chemical operations for the water treatment plant Extracts samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analysis and completes required paperwork Operates, calibrates, transports, and performs basic equipment maintenance Performs operational checks on wells and treatment plants and records information on operating records and logs. Performs basic electrical functions including resetting and / or restarting equipment and changing fuses. Processes computer work orders Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards Required Education Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental, or related science field Valid SC Driver’s License Must be able to obtain a “Class B” Water Treatment license within one year of date of hire
