JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE
The Water Treatment Operator is responsible for operations and maintenance of the La Vergne Water Treatment Plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates a variety of equipment including: valves, pumps, motors, disinfection equipment, vehicles, etc. Conducts routine testing by means of basic laboratory analyses and monitoring of treatment plant performance. Performs and documents treatment process and maintenance of treatment facility equipment. Documents plant performance including daily flow, chemical usage and dosage. Ensures facilities are clean, neat and secure. Provides customer service functions when necessary. Other duties as assigned. Willing to work all shifts, including: weekends, holidays, evenings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Display a willingness, aptitude and self-discipline to study the required material and meet all prerequisites to obtain water certification. Knowledge of or ability to learn process control techniques, maintenance procedures and safe practices of water treatment facility. Knowledge of or ability to learn regulatory rules is essential Previous water or wastewater treatment experience is desirable but not required Willing to work all shifts including: weekends, holidays, evenings.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Education/Experience :
High School Diploma or GED.
Licenses/Certifications :
Valid Driver’s License. Water Operator’s License specific to state and site-specific requirements is desirable. Other licenses may vary according to specific site and assignments.
Technical :
Ability to follow manual & operating instructions. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications & internet. Basic knowledge of water treatment operations.
