Hinesburg, VT Schedule:
This position’s primary work shift will be Monday through Thursday 3:30pm – 2:00am with schedule flexibility to come in earlier for meetings and/or work with employees to train on the weekend shift. Job Summary The role of the Sanitation Supervisor involves ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the production environment, while also maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. Responsibilities include supervising the sanitation team, ensuring adherence to cleaning policies, and conducting daily sanitation inspections.
Responsibilities Team Leadership:
Lead and motivate the sanitation team to ensure a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability. Monitor the performance of sanitation team members and provide constructive feedback.
Training and Development:
Train sanitation team members on effective cleaning methods, proper equipment usage, and safety procedures. Facilitate ongoing training sessions to enhance the team’s skills and knowledge.
Task Delegation:
Manage the Master Sanitation Schedule and delegate sanitation duties efficiently, considering team members’ strengths and skills. Ensure proper distribution of tasks to achieve optimal productivity. Evaluate staffing needs and schedule staff as needed.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, inspections, and training sessions. Document any changes or updates to sanitation protocols. Ensure compliance with sanitation metrics and targeted goals. Ensure all scheduled cleaning processes are completed correctly, legibly and in a timely manner.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure sanitation chemicals, supplies, and tools are stocked and available. Assists in maintaining Master Sanitation Schedule in an “audit ready” state. Complete all required quality and food safety training. Make recommendations for improvements to the Sanitation Program, Environmental Program, Pest Control.
Hands-On Participation:
Actively participate in sanitation of processing equipment and production areas alongside the team to set an example and ensure quality standards are met. Assist in the execution of sanitation tasks, demonstrating proper techniques and efficiency. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent. 2-5 years of supervisory experience. Prior experience working in sanitation, ideally within a food and/or manufacturing environment. Competencies Effective communication skills to interact with team members and other departments. Strong problem-solving skills to address sanitation issues promptly and efficiently. Efficient time management to ensure sanitation tasks are completed within designated time frames. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, Outlook. Physical Demands Regularly required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. Regularly bend and lift up to 50 lbs. and/or 25 lbs. repeatedly. Excellent hand-eye coordination. Regularly required to talk and hear. Regularly required to visually observe objects up close and at a distance. Regularly requires hands to handle or feel and finger dexterity. Exposure to a variety of food facility cleaning chemicals. Ability to work in 38° Fahrenheit temperature and wet environment. Mental Demands Regularly required to use oral communication skills. Learn and apply new information or skills. Regularly required to demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy when interacting with the team. Ability to visually discern quality and cleanliness and follow food/workplace safety requirements.
