Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To prepare, assemble andinstall vehicle and/or chipper components to requiredspecifications for Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Unit andFinish department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Read and interpretschematics (blueprints).
  • Read and interpret work orders.
  • Usebasic hand tools such as tape measurer and specialty equipment.
  • Follow established safety and quality policies, procedures, andpractices.
  • Learn and operator all equipment within the work area(cell).
  • Perform rework as required.
  • Support APS (AltecProduction System) initiatives. May participate in RCI events.
  • Willing to move to other work areas in order to support productionneeds. (Cross-train).
  • Maintain daily time records.
  • Install unitvehicle and/or chipper components and accessories.
  • Testing ofinstalled components.
  • Mastery of mechanical, electrical,hydraulic and trouble shooting skills.
  • Willingness and ability totrain new/current associates.
  • Maintain and complete any necessarydocumentation or paperwork.
  • Job duties may vary by location.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • High SchoolDiploma/GED from an accredited institution is required.
  • Abilityto read, write, and comprehend required.
  • Basic computer usageknowledge required.
  • Ability to read tape measures, blue prints,and schematics required.
  • State Certification (career readiness)desired.
  • Proficient knowledge of at least one of the followingdesired.

Mechanical Hydraulics Electrical Manufacturing /Production processes

  • Ability toobtain Forklift certificate if required.
  • Keep a clean work area(5S)
  • Assist co-workers and group leads as needed
  • Knowledge ofAltec programs and/or systems
  • Shift work may be required.
  • Cleanup and dispose of any trash generated while performing jobresponsibilities.
  • Perform all other duties as required /assigned.

Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols to determinesequence and methods of assembling components. Read and interpretwork orders. Use basic hand tools such as tape measurer andspecialty equipment. Learn and operate all equipment within thework area (cell). Perform rework as required. Support APS (AltecProduction System) initiatives. May participate in RCI events.

Willing to move to other work areas to support production needs.(Cross-train) Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines onmaterial applying knowledge of shop math and layout techniques.

Perform Mig welding by using a variety of arc and gas weldingequipment. Inspect assembly/components for conformance ofspecifications. Trim, file, grind, sand, deburr, buff and smoothsurfaces using hand tools and portable power tools. Willingness andability to train new/current associates. Follow established safety,environmental and quality policies, procedures, and practices.

Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment. Maintain daily timerecords. Other job duties as assigned. Job duties may vary bylocation. Education, Experience, and skills required High SchoolDiploma/GED required. Vocational training is desired. AWS D.1.1weld certification required. Ability to read, write, and comprehendrequired. Basic computer usage knowledge required. Ability to readtape measures, blueprints, and schematics required. Proficientknowledge of the following required. Welding Mechanical Keep aclean work area (5S). Assist co-workers and group leads as needed.
