Welder Fabricator Position Available In Jefferson, Alabama

• Production Welder
• Uses MIG welder to assemble fabricated metal products in an efficient manner to maximize production.

Fitting and welding parts using information from production drawings and shop travelers.

• Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Responsible for making welds to meet specifications on prints
• Responsible for producing strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent
• Responsible for setting welding machine to proper voltage and wire speed for material being welded
• Follows required procedures and uses appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembly process
• Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly and tools and machines well maintained.
• Skills and Attributes
• Knowledge of welding processes and equipment
• Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead with a good penetration and a quality weld
• Ability to operate acetylene torches
• Math skills including metric system and angles
• Ability to read tape measures and angle finders
• Ability to read blueprint drawings and AWS weld symbols
• Ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes
• Physical ability to weld in awkward positions such as kneeling or lying down
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to work from a ladder
• Experience Requirements
• Vocational school training or three years welding experience in related field
