Welder
WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
CertainTeed is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder to join our team in Winter Haven, Florida. The ideal candidate will be proficient in cutting and joining metal components with precision, using both technical drawings and verbal instructions.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Job Duties:
- Work with welding tools and equipment to fabricate and weld machine parts and frames.
- Perform MIG welding on a variety of materials, including mild steel, stress-proof rods, and sheet metal ranging from 16-gauge to 5/16-inch thickness.
- Set up and operate welding equipment (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.)
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings, accurately take measurements, and plan layouts and welding procedures accordingly.
- Inspect manufactured parts to meet quality control standards and accuracy.
- Utilize skills in operating power tools such as grinders when necessary.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in proper working condition.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Lift, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, use hands and fingers, handle tools, talk and hear others on a routine basis.
- Comfortable working in hot/humid environment.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience welding in a company environment or through a community or trade school setting.
- Experience in MIG, TIG, stick, and stud welding is required.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques and safety procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under limited supervision.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to understand technical oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of safety standards and compliance with use of PPE (face-shield, gloves etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
