Job Description
The MSS Welder/Fabricator is a skilled professional responsible for performing various welding and fabrication tasks, including manufacturing, maintaining, and repairing metal components and structures using different welding processes while ensuring quality and safety standards are met. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, physical capabilities, and professional skills to successfully perform all required duties while maintaining safety and quality standards. This position reports to the MSS Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform various welding techniques including Stick, MIG, and other welding processes on carbon steel and various metals Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to fabricate parts according to specifications Design, fabricate, and maintain jigs and fixtures for production efficiency Execute open and closed root welds using MIG and 6010/7018 rod welding techniques Conduct quality inspections of completed welds to ensure they meet standards and specifications Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment and shop machinery Perform field service tasks including drum repair, resurfacing, and machine installation Complete optical alignment procedures and equipment rigging operations Travel to customer sites for on-site welding and repair work (up to 25% travel required) Collaborate with team members and maintain effective communication across departments Maintain compliance with plant safety rules, safe operating procedures, and housekeeping standards
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

four position certification Two-year technical training/apprenticeship plus three years maintenance experience a plus
Required Skills:
Must be able to pass structural welding certification for MIG and stick welding four position (AWS) open/closed root

Proficiency in E7018, E7014, and E7024 welding rods Experience with MIG welding closed root using 0.035 in. diameter wire on carbon steel Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints Valid driver’s license with clean driving record Ability to obtain a passport Basic mechanical skills and proper use of hand tools Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to respond to off-hours calls Knowledge of pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems a plus

Physical Demands:
The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to: Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds Extended periods of standing Fine motor skills for detailed work Working in various positions (kneeling, crouching, overhead work) Working at elevated heights when required Exposure to heat, sparks, and welding fumes May work in outdoor conditions with varying weather May work in confined spaces Ability to wear arc flash gear Forklift certified or ability to get forklift certified Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses) An additional $2.50/hr. Premium between the hours of 7pm
- 7am.
Any hours worked outside of 7pm-7am will not receive the premium.
Travel Requirements:
Travel is required in this position.
Work Conditions:
At customer sites, the majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to: Noise levels above 80 dB Operation of complex machinery Solvents, fumes and inks Machine shop environment Variable Temperatures Valid driver’s license required Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
