Welder / Fabricator Position Available In Berkshire, Massachusetts

Job Summary:

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for performing avariety of welding involving fabrication, alteration, and repairs ofmetal parts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Weld and fabricate metalcomponents per drawing/prints and work orders
• Layout fits and weldscomponents for assembly based on pre-designed specifications
• Grind offexcess weld, slag or splatter, using hand scraper, power chipper orportable grinder, and is reviewed while in progress and uponcompletion
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions
• Responsible for sound welds and accuracy of assembly
• Observe andidentify any fault in equipment, material and assembly process, thennotifying supervisors
• Control the processes of fitting burning andwelding to avoid problems in relation to overheating and/or distortionof the parts
• Clamping, holding, tack welding, heat bending, bolting,or grinding parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements
• Requisition parts and equipment as necessary
• Liaise with supervisor onproblems to achieve efficient repair
• Maintain a clean and tidy workarea
• Complete all documentation including inspection sheets,certificates, and receipts applying signatures as appropriate
• Identifyabnormalities and repairs required as result of internal actions andadvise the supervisor accordingly
• Identify areas of processimprovement, cost and waste reduction
• Work in an efficient and timelymanner
• Undertake relevant training and development as required
• Carryout work orders within a realistic time line ensuring that deadlines aremet
• Maintain cooperative working relationships, and demonstratesensitivity to and respect for a diverse population
• Record all hoursworked accurately
• Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE

• Experiencewith welding equipment
• Experience with MIG and TIG welding
• Mechanical aptitude

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience

CERTIFICATIONS

• AWSCertified
• Crane Certified
• Valid Driver’s License

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to pass physicalexam
• Ability to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
• Ability to exert maximumforce to pull and carry objects
• Must be able to climb into, onto andunder vehicle
• Extended periods of sitting, standing, bending,squatting and kneeling
• Vision a minimum 20/40 with or withoutcorrective lenses
• Good hearing
