Position Summary HandsOn River Region is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Community Engagement Manager to lead, innovate, and expand volunteer engagement efforts across the River Region. As the steward of the region’s centralized hub for volunteerism, this position plays a vital role in building nonprofit capacity, strengthening civic involvement, and deepening community partnerships. This role oversees the HandsOn River Region volunteer portal, which connects thousands of volunteers with hundreds of nonprofit, faith-based, and educational partners. The Community Engagement Manager will manage volunteer programs and key initiatives such as youth leadership, corporate service projects, pro bono opportunities, and seasonal campaigns like the Christmas Clearinghouse. The position will also actively support fundraising efforts, manage donor and partner interactions using a Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) system, and contribute to the overall sustainability and growth of the organization. Key ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Web Portal Management Oversee and manage the HandsOn River Region volunteer portal ensuring it is dynamic, user-friendly, and up-to-date. Train and support nonprofit, educational, and faith-based partners on how to effectively use the portal. Monitor portal usage, identify engagement trends, and recommend system improvements. Increase visibility and accessibility of the platform to attract and retain volunteers. Community Engagement Lead the strategic expansion of volunteer initiatives across the HandsOn River Region service area. Cultivate and maintain relationships with a broad network of community partners to strengthen volunteer networks. Coordinate large-scale and targeted volunteer efforts, including corporate and pro bono projects. Develop scalable, sustainable service models to address both short- and long-term community priorities. Volunteer Programs & Events Plan and execute signature programs such as the Volunteer of the Year Awards, National Days of Service, and Christmas Clearinghouse. Manage youth engagement initiatives, service-learning projects, and leadership development. Design and implement volunteer recognition and appreciation efforts. Fundraising, Sponsorships & Development Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board, and relevant committees to identify, cultivate, and steward donors and sponsors. Assist in planning and executing fundraising campaigns and events. Utilize the organization’s CRM system to log and track donor, sponsor, and partner interactions. Leverage CRM data to shape donor engagement strategies, follow-up schedules, and sponsorship plans. Communications & Outreach Promote volunteerism and civic engagement through presentations, outreach campaigns, social media, and newsletters. Work with the communications team to share volunteer impact stories and raise awareness of programs. Represent HandsOn River Region at public events, forums, and community meetings. Evaluation & Organizational Support Collect and analyze data related to volunteer participation, partner engagement, and community impact. Provide insights for continuous program improvement and strategic planning. Support administrative and organizational needs, including reporting, proposals, and special initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and daily operations of HandsOn River Region. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience in lieu of a four-year degree) preferred. 2-4 years of experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, program development, or fundraising. Demonstrated experience supporting fundraising efforts and/or securing sponsors. Experience using CRM systems for relationship management, donor tracking, and strategy development. Strong organizational, planning, and relationship-building skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including public speaking and storytelling. $52,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
