This position is directly accountable to the Executive Director of External Affairs, with occasional direction from the General Manager. Examples of Duties Recruit, train, and oversee a team of part-time ambassadors to represent the organization within the community. Develop and implement strategies to enhance the overall customer experience (CX) for community members and stakeholders. Build partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and key community stakeholders to support community engagement initiatives. Coordinate outreach events, workshops, and activities to foster community involvement and collaboration. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of community engagement efforts with organizational goals and objectives. Monitor and evaluate the impact of community engagement activities and partnerships and provide regular reports to the Community Engagement and Outreach Manager. Serve as a point of contact for community inquiries, feedback, and concerns, and ensure timely and effective responses. Stay informed about community trends, issues, and opportunities to identify areas for growth and improvement in community engagement strategies. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Works cooperatively with all levels of personnel. Attends in-service training, seminars or other opportunities for professional development as made available by CT transit , and/or as assigned by Management. Remain flexible to provide support on nights, weekends, holidays & during emergencies to support our 24/7/365 operation. May be subject to night and/or weekend work based on the organization’s business needs. Travel and provide support to other departments and divisions with HR, Finance and other administrative technology related functions as assigned. Manages the coaching, training, discipline and/or commendations for all part-time ambassadors systemwide. Participates in the selection and interview process for all part time ambassadors hired systemwide. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree with major course work in marketing, communications, community development, public relations or a closely related field and one (1) year of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education, coursework, and work experience on a year-for-year basis can be substituted for the 4-year degree requirement. Proven experience in community engagement, outreach, or partnership building. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Proficient experience with MS 365, Office, Adobe Creative Suite. Excellent organizational and project management abilities, the ability to prioritize projects and to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously. Familiarity with customer experience principles and strategies to enhance stakeholder satisfaction. Experience in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers or part-time staff is a plus. Knowledge of community resources, networks, and dynamics in the local area. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, with a passion for community building and collaboration. Experience working in the public transportation or urban planning industry is a plus. Ability to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Excellent self-management, communication, and team-based participation. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, in a fast-paced environment, to multitask, work for multiple managers. Customer-focused and capable of relating well at all levels of the organization. A valid drivers’ license is required. Individual may be required to travel in the course of their daily work.
