The Brevard Zoo is an AZA-accredited facility with a diverse collection of over 900 animals representing nearly 200 species. It is also home to the Sea Turtle Healing Center for rehabilitation of wild marine turtles. Brevard Zoo is well-known for its strong conservation ethic and unique attractions, such as kayaking through the Africa area, giraffe feeding, and rhinoceros and various other animal encounters. The Philanthropy Manager plays a vital role in the coordination and effectiveness of the ECZF’s growing fundraising team, supporting efforts across Brevard Zoo, the future Bowen Aquarium, and related conservation initiatives. Reporting directly to the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO), this role supports the success of the East Coast Zoological Foundation by ensuring cross-team alignment, campaign coordination, adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), and donor stewardship support. This individual serves as a key partner to the CPO, providing campaign-related assistance, maintaining internal accountability to processes and timelines, and acting as the primary point of contact for general donor inquiries. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset, along with a passion for mission-driven work and donor engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED
- BA/BS degree
- At least 7 years of experience in major gift fundraising
- 3-5 years of staff management with increased responsibility

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies
- Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities
- Experience with CRM software for donor tracking
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Team & Operational Coordination (45%)
- Work across all philanthropy departments (major gifts, corporate/foundation, events, operations) to ensure fundraising SOPs, especially around prospect management and donor data entry are consistently followed.
- Monitor internal adherence to Raiser’s Edge procedures by working closely with fundraising staff to flag gaps, offer reminders, and partner with operations staff for cleanup or training when needed.
- Collaborate with the Director of Strategy & Operations to develop and maintain KPI reporting systems that track fundraiser activity and progress toward team and campaign goals.
- Support monthly KPI reviews and work with individual fundraisers to ensure timely updates to records and accountability to metrics such as donor visits, proposals submitted, and revenue progress.
- Coordinate internal project workflows and meeting logistics for campaign and department-wide initiatives.
- Support internal communications and documentation of philanthropy team processes. Campaign & Executive Support (30%)
- Provide executive-level support to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, including scheduling internal and donor-facing meetings, preparing materials, and maintaining calendar alignment.
- Assist with meeting prep, presentation materials, and tracking next steps from campaign cabinet, board, and cross-functional strategy sessions.
- Maintain campaign action plans and help ensure team accountability to internal timelines.
- Support special projects, including donor mailings, briefings, and campaign materials. Donor Engagement & Communication (25%)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for general donor outreach to the philanthropy team, triaging inquiries and ensuring timely, professional responses.
- Monitor shared inboxes and phone lines, answer questions about giving options, and route donors to the appropriate fundraiser or team member.
- Assist in producing thank-you notes, donor communications, and follow-up correspondence on behalf of the CPO and major gift team.
- Support donor event logistics and on-site donor hospitality as needed.
- Ensure all donor touchpoints reflect ECZF’s mission, values, and commitment to exceptional service.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- 2-4 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, administrative coordination, executive support, or donor engagement
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a donor-first mindset.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Comfort holding team members accountable to internal processes, timelines, and performance expectations in a collaborative, respectful manner.

WORK SCHEDULE
Full-time, M-F. May be required to work weekends and nights as necessary. This position will work on-site at Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Florida, with flexibility for a hybrid work schedule.
