The Major Gifts Manager will play a vital role on the Development Team, ensuring that HEF continues to build and grow philanthropic support for programs impacting students, teachers, and schools. This position will focus on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of major individual and corporate donors through strategic engagement, building relationships, and personalized communications. The Major Gifts Manager will support other Development activities including sponsorship solicitations, maintaining accurate records of interactions in Raiser’s Edge, and attending key events. The role requires the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners, as well as a strong understanding of industry trends and local education initiatives. The right person will be passionate about fundraising, committed to building relationships with supporters, innovative and creative, and excited to work with a team of people dedicated to HEF’s mission. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
Responsibilities:
Participate as a key member of the Development Team in all fundraising strategies. Successfully cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of current individual and corporate major donors through tailored engagement activities and relationship building. Utilize wealth screening information, other research, relationship building, and networking to identify and develop prospective supporters that are aligned with HEF’s mission and goals. Support event-based fundraising strategies through sponsorship solicitations. Develop highly personalized donor communications including proposals, stewardship reports, and general program updates. Utilize Raiser’s Edge to capture and track donor interactions, maintain accurate records, and generate reports as needed to inform your work. In partnership with the Chief Develpment Officer, create and implement strategies to significantly increase individual annual support. Establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with teammates across the organization (Program staff, Communications, etc.) to meet goals, stay informed about programs, discover funding needs, and stay connected with volunteers and other supporters. Actively build and maintain a strong network of community leaders, donors, and prospects through regular engagement, attendance at networking/community events, and strategic relationship-building efforts. Attend all HEF events as assigned. Events can be early mornings, evenings, or weekends. Maintain knowledge of industry trends and data; stay abreast of local organizations aligned with the mission of HEF; stay informed regarding topics relating to education and the Hillsborough County Public School district. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree 3+ years of experience working for a nonprofit and a strong track record in fundraising is required, 5+ years of experience is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of fundraising best practices and ethical standards. Proven track record of securing major gifts from individuals and/or corporations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience utilizing a donor CRM is required, experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred. No criminal history and must be able to pass a background check.
Travel Demands:
Must have dependable and reliable transportation; ability to travel locally to meet with supporters and/or attend events. Ability to travel to offsite events which occur in the early mornings, evenings or on weekends
Physical Demands:
Moderate physical activity involved in an office setting. Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Lifting requirements up to 30 pounds.
Salary:
$65,000-$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
