Assistant Director of Development and Communications Position Summary:
This position is a full-time position, responsible for different facets of our community engagement and fund development. This position requires a creative and dynamic professional with a strong attention to detail and a passion for innovation and growth. Responsibilities include components of marketing, development, and communications. This position directly reports to the Chief Operations Officer and works alongside the Development Consultant.
Responsibilities:
Fundraising Assist in executing the annual fundraising strategy, including campaigns, donor acquisition, stewardship, and retention Actively participate in the development process by helping grow the pipeline of donors and volunteers through active community engagement Identify new donor prospects and implement strategies for cultivation and solicitation Assume primary responsibility for new initiative: developing expectations and composition of an active fundraising committee and cultivating, recruiting and training members Seek funding and partnership opportunities and initiatives within the community, inclusive of Seminole County, to elevate the programmatic experience Lead the planning and coordination of select fundraising events, ensuring logistical execution, sponsorship acquisition, and donor engagement. Manage event timelines, volunteer teams, and post-event follow-up to assess success and areas for improvement. Maintain donor database, inclusive of donor acknowledgements and recording Regularly audit and clean data to remove duplicates and ensure data consistency
Donor Stewardship and External Communications:
Develop personalized communications, reports, and impact statements to keep donors informed of OCA’s initiatives and successes Steward major donors by providing updates, expressing gratitude, and identifying opportunities for further engagement. Assist with implementation of marketing and communications strategy in alignment with the overall organizational goals and mission Work with contractors to ensure brand consistency across all platforms, materials, and communications Identify key opportunities to elevate the nonprofit’s visibility and presence in the community. Manage social media, with contractors to execute, plan to grow the nonprofit’s social media presence, engaging followers and cultivating an online community – This includes Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn. Oversee the creation of high-quality content for various platforms, including the website, social media, email newsletters, brochures, annual reports, and more – this includes copy and design Analyze digital marketing campaigns and provide regular reports on performance, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet engagement and fundraising goals Ensure the website is accurate and up-to-date Ensure all messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with the nonprofit’s tone and values Write compelling stories, case studies, and testimonials that illustrate the nonprofit’s impact and success stories Internal Communications Ensure all participants receive ongoing communications through Slack, email, social media, and hard documentation as needed Manage events calendar for staff Teamwork Answer the phones as necessary. Support all team members by demonstrating a positive attitude, flexibility, and respect across all situations Immerse in programs throughout the week to ensure a complete understanding of our product lines, build content for communications and marketing, and identify opportunities for growth with existing and novel funding support Provides excellent customer service to all customers in all situations (face to face, written communication and telecommunication).

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience:
Rate of pay is dependent on education and experience. A minimum of three years of experience is required. Applicable experience includes managing communications, marketing, and fundraising in the non-profit sector. Working knowledge of fundraising and constituent management software desired. Strong computer skills and social media experience required. OCA will consider each person on a case-by-case basis.
Driving:
All candidates over the age of twenty-one must be able to drive for this role. To maintain this role, staff members must have a valid driver’s license in good standing. Drivers must stay up to date with OCA driving courses and all drivers will be reviewed regularly. If drivers are found to be unsafe, aggressive or get into an accident while driving an OCA vehicle or with OCA clients in the vehicle, the staff members driving role (and rate of pay) may be reduced until proper training and safe practices can be ensured.
Physical:
Staff Members must be able to manage an active daily schedule without fatigue. The individual must be able to complete Professional Crisis Management Practitioner Level 1 or higher. Individuals must be able to lift 20lbs daily and transition materials from point A to point B.
Training/Certificates:
Staff members must receive and maintain multiple trainings while working at OCA. This includes CPR/First Aid credential within the first 90-days of employment. Additional mandatory training includes but is not limited to; Zero Tolerance, Direct Care Core Competencies, Cultural Diversity and HIPAA Compliance Training.
Basic Customer Service:
Staff members will interact with various stakeholders on campus and in the community including other staff members, community members, board members, donors, and family members. All staff members are required to always present themselves and the organization in a positive manner.
Basic Office Skills:
Staff members in this role must be able to use a computer with minimal support, utilizing Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Adobe Acrobat, Canva and Bloomerang.
