Overview:
Our Hawai’i is hiring a passionate, self-directed, full-time organizer to join our growing team and help to build a powerful, people-led movement for a Hawai’i that puts local working people first
- not big money interests.
This organizer will play a central role in identifying, recruiting and training grassroots leaders, helping to support the growth of local organizing hui, planning organizing events, and laying the foundation for our advocacy and electoral work. The right candidate is someone who can develop and empower others, build deep relationships and move people to action.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Basebuilding & Volunteer Engagement
- 50% Recruit new volunteers and members through outreach, events, and one-on-one conversations Develop and facilitate political education, leadership development, and training programs Manage volunteer onboarding and maintain active engagement with supporters via our outreach platforms, calls, text, email, and in-person outreach Help incubate, coordinate, and support local organizing teams across O’ahu and elsewhere Event Planning & Mobilization•30% Help lead planning and execution of public organizing events Coordinate logistics, recruitment and turnout strategies, and follow-up actions for events Mobilize volunteers and community members for campaign, advocacy and electoral opportunities Organizational Support & Strategy•20% Collaborate with other team members to align grassroots work with broader strategy Track data and outcomes in CRM tools (e.
g. Action Network, Action Builder) Contribute to strategic planning, campaign development, organizational development, and fundraising Participate in regular internal planning meetings Represent Our Hawai’i publicly in partner spaces, the media, and elsewhere as needed and appropriate Reports to:
Managing Director Key Relationships:
Our Hawai’i staff, contractors, and board members Volunteer leaders, supporters, and local team captains Partner organizations and coalition allies
Qualifications:
Required:
Strong commitment to Our Hawai’i’s mission and values Comfort speaking with people from all walks of life, and the ability to inspire action Willingness to occasionally work evenings/weekends and travel inter-island as needed Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and follow-through
Preferred:
