Full Job Description GENERAL:
The Communications Specialist has strong written communication skills, effectively solve problems, and can self-manage multiple deadlines. The primary responsibility is to create an engaging social media presence through videos, posts, and images. This includes copy writing and creating/sourcing necessary graphics for ongoing, standard pieces and responding to needs as they arise. RESPONSIBILITIES PRIMARY DUTIES DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS
Assist the Community Relations Manager with content on the Museum’s website so information is up to date and relevant Keep the Museum’s website calendar up to date Post Museum events and programs on external web calendars Communicate daily on social media channels PRINT As assigned, write copy for print materials including posters, flyers, advertisements, etc. As assigned, use design tools to create graphics for flyers, posters, etc.
GENERAL DUTIES
Follow the Museum’s brand guidelines when creating content Respect coworkers Continue personal professional development and share knowledge with coworkers and leadership Serve as a backup for community outreach events Work hours are standard Monday through Friday with some nights and weekend shifts throughout the year for special events Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
College courses or professional development in social media management Passion for hands-on learning & exploration Ability to use Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, and Word Ability to use graphic design software and video editing software Valid Driver’s License Employment contingent on passing a Level 1 background check
