Job Details:
The Robert McDuffie Center for Strings, the strings division within the School of Music, is seeking a Director of Community and Business Strategy on the Macon, GA campus. Working with internal teams and external partners, the Director will work to elevate the McDuffie brand, drive fundraising efforts, and increase community involvement for all McDuffie offerings, including the Fabian Concert series, Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra, Young Artist recital series, and other performance opportunities.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Community and Business Strategy will play a pivotal role in developing and executing marketing strategies while fostering strong relationships with current and potential donors. This hybrid position combines the expertise of marketing and donor engagement to elevate the organization’s brand, drive fundraising efforts, and increase community involvement. The role involves creating compelling content, managing digital and print marketing campaigns, and utilizing strategic communication to engage donors, cultivate new relationships, and maintain ongoing support. This individual will work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to ensure cohesive and effective messaging across all platforms, ultimately contributing to the achievement of organizational goals. This is a forward-facing position with involvement in all McDuffie events and activities, including the Fabian concert series, Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra concerts, student recitals, University events, and other private and public events, and requires some evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, business, music, or a related field is required, along with two years of experience in marketing, fundraising, communications, donor relations, or other directly relevant business experiences, and/or activities where relationship building is essential.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must have knowledge of musical event planning, budgeting, fundraising, and grant writing. Ability to plan and organize meetings and events. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively in diverse social settings; a proactive and communicative approach is highly valued. Demonstrated creativity, initiative, and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging for diverse audiences. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends to facilitate cultivation of constituents. Ability to multi-task in order to achieve goals in a timely manner.
