Job Description

Gifts Officer 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Atlanta, GA Job Summary the Gifts Officer will execute the aspects of the organization’s strategic development plan that pertain to major gift fundraising. The Gifts Officer will work to personally identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of new and existing donors around the country. Duties include donor research, stewardship procedures, and data integrity. The Gifts Officer will report to and work closely with the Executive Vice President of External Relations and will work collaboratively with the Development team. The Gifts Officer will also work to integrate fundraising with the The Home Depot mission, as well as coordinating joint meetings with the program teams when appropriate The position can be based in Indianapolis, Indiana, or remote. Travel is required. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet organizational goals. Plan and execute fundraising events, ensuring all logistical details are managed effectively. Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors through personalized communication. Utilize software tools such as Constant Contact for donor engagement and outreach campaigns. Manage databases to track donor information, contributions, and engagement history. Negotiate sponsorships and partnerships that align with the organization’s mission. Conduct data collection and research to identify potential funding sources and trends in philanthropy. Write compelling proposals that effectively communicate the organization’s needs and impact to potential funders. Collaborate with public relations teams to promote fundraising initiatives and enhance community awareness. Experience Proven experience in event planning, particularly in a fundraising context. Strong relationship management skills with a track record of successful donor engagement. Proficiency in using software tools for communication, such as Constant Contact, as well as database management systems. Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with various stakeholders. Experience in data collection, research methodologies, and analysis related to philanthropy. Exceptional proposal writing skills with the ability to craft persuasive narratives that resonate with funders. Background in public relations or communications is highly desirable.
