TRS Key Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate and manage the release of internal and external communications utilizing local media, website, TU Schools app, social media, parent/guardian messaging systems, newsletters, and emails. Conceive, implement, direct, and evaluate public relations programs that promote positive reactions to district and school board policies, programs, and operations. Attend school events (e.g. fine arts, athletic, CTAE, family engagement, etc.) in efforts to show district support and to publicize the events for stakeholders. Lead communications efforts during emergency situations (e.g. severe weather closures, safety incidents, etc.). Attend school board meetings for the purpose of maintaining internal and external communications. Work with community organizations, businesses, and the Chamber of Commerce on community relations campaigns designed to promote the school and community to new and existing residents, business, and industry. Prepare materials utilizing various media (e.g. reports, brochures, ads, calendars, informational packets, video, PowerPoint, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information and promoting the achievements of TUCS. Work with representatives of the news media and local community organizations for the purpose of keeping positive lines of communication open and for securing maximum exposure for all accomplishments and newsworthy events. Disseminate news to the local media on a timely basis. Work with district office staff to produce media/communications tools to facilitate the achievement of the goals of their departments. Maintain the district website and assist the schools and central office with website trainings, updates, etc., ensuring that all electronic communication within the site(s) is current and relevant. Inform the community regarding proposed actions of the school district which might affect them. Work with the Human Resources Director to assist in recruitment of employees as needed. Coordinate Partners In Education program for the district. Identify business, industry, people and resources in the community to assist the district in meeting its system priorities. Attend training and/or conferences and review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibility. Populate and maintain the district’s public calendar of events and district Fine Arts Center calendar, working with principals to minimize conflicts for families. Assist HR Dept. with management of the TU Employee Wellness program. Perform and promote all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies. Follow federal and state laws, as well as school board policies. Represent the school district on various committees and at functions throughout the community, as assigned by the superintendent. Ensure adherence to good safety procedures. Follow federal and state laws, as well as school board policies. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent.
Qualifications:
Hold or be eligible for required certification. Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community. High integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation. Abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators. Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work. Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students particularly during emergency situations.
