General Summary The Partnership and Development Director is the senior manager of partnership, sponsorship, and community engagement efforts for BREC. The position is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of partnership, development, and community engagement activities to include cultivating and managing relationships with community and strategic partners, devising sponsorship offerings, working with support organizations to create sponsorships, strategizing, collaborating and coordinating community events and other engagement activities, identifying and capitalizing on grant and other fund-raising opportunities, and working closely with BREC senior management and support organizations to prioritize funding needs. Incumbent must be committed to BRECs mission and the principle of social equity. Must have a passion for relationship building and parks and recreation.
Requirements and Job Specifications Education:
Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university required; with a Master’s degree preferred. Area of Study (major): Concentration in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Mass Communications, Public Administration, or other related fields Certification(s): N/A License(s): Must be able to obtain a valid LA Driver’s License within six months of hire.
Years Relevant Work Experience:
Minimum (5) years of progressive experience with business-to-business sales or partnerships or fund-raising. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered required; 10 or more years of work-related experience in program area preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have notable relationship building or community relations training and executive experience Experience with managing and overseeing contracts is desired
Experience with assessing and measuring achievement of goals is desired
Must be very organized and able to successfully multi-task and easily report on status of all projects and prospects
Must be able to motivate and support board members, staff, volunteers, and partners to reach targeted annual engagement, partnership, and applicable revenue goals
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Confident in public speaking, able to effectively express ideas
Time management and flexibility
Experience in leading, inspiring, and supervising staff, volunteers, and executives or board members. Ability to identify and cultivate key relationships

Functions and Duties Essential Functions and Duties:
Develop, maintain, and enforce partnership and sponsorship (and other related) policies and procedures Develop and maintain a tracking system for all existing and prospective partnerships and community engagement opportunities Identify partnership opportunities and cultivate and manage partnership relationships and coordinate with applicable BREC department Directors and staff Assess, measure, and report on strategic partnership performance
Devise and oversee implementation of strategic community engagement activities, including special events
Work with community partner groups to engage the East Baton Rouge Parish community, leveraging external resources and community partner relationships through events, input, and meetings to serve the needs of BREC and those communities
Align partnership & community relationships and activities with agency strategic goals
Identify and inventory sponsorship opportunities and work with respective support organizations to engage sponsorship sales to meet revenue goals
Promote external sponsorship and partnership opportunities with BREC Coordinate with applicable BREC senior management to schedule meetings and presentations with elected officials and community leaders to assist in advancing BREC’s mission
Develop presentations and talking points for meetings between applicable BREC senior management and community leaders and follow-up on those meetings to ensure that action items are addressed and discussions are considered in strategic initiatives as applicable Negotiate, author, review, and process sponsorship and partnership contracts and proposals
Develop and manage partnership, community engagement, and sponsorship events
Work with applicable support organizations, department Directors and staff to identify potential grant opportunities
Assist in authoring grant applications to ensure proposals meet granter requirements.
Oversee management and tracking of partnership and sponsorship agreements and awarded grants; ensure reports are filed, payments are processed, and deadlines are met
Work with applicable department Directors and staff to develop grant monitoring plans and timelines for all grant, partnership, and sponsorship contracts to ensure benchmarks are met and projects are completed on time
Build and sustain working relationships and communication with community associations, business leaders, lenders, grant funders, faith-based organizations and churches; school administrators, college/universities local non-profits, and youth groups and other institutions Work with the Recreation department, community associations, business leaders, faith-based organizations and churches, school administrators, college/universities, local non-profits, youth groups, and other institutions to strategize and implement events and programs that optimally engage the various communities of East Baton Rouge Parish with a goal to strategically partner with those communities on a more long-term basis
Assist BREC senior leaders in sustaining working relationships and communication with elected officials and other applicable community leaders
Provide periodic reports to the COO, Superintendent, and the board which measure progress towards achieving plans
Secondary Job Duties:
