Sales Counselor The Sales Counselor-IL will be responsible and accountable for assigned sales in the Independent Living areas. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, business, sales, public relations, or psychology preferred. Minimum of 5 or more year’s marketing/sales experience in senior or retirement housing or equivalent combination of education & experience. Experience in CCRCs preferred. Knowledge of and experience in public relations, advertising, strategic planning and sales. Proven track record of success in sales, marketing and networking, preferably in the area of senior housing or assisted living. Proficient computer skills and ability to utilize marketing software programs. Must possess a driver’s license and a clean driving record. Competencies Understanding of and commitment to a faith-based non-profit service organization. Ability to represent St. James Place in a professional manner. Strong understanding of retirement and senior healthcare marketing sector. Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with staff, managers, and members of the senior leadership team. Good human relation skills, strong verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated, energetic and compassionate. Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the senior Ability to relate well with the senior community and their family members. Ability to establish and maintain good referrals and sales. Personable, outgoing, and professional demeanor. Strong organizational and time management skills Creativity in developing effective advertising, collateral materials and marketing events. Ability to communicate with and understand the English language. Work Hours May require working long hours or hours outside of the normal work week. Required to participate in the company or departmental Manager on Call program.

MAY BE DESIGNATED ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL IN THE EVENT OF EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, INCLUDING HURRICANES, EVACUATION, FIRE, FLOOD, ETC., AND BE REQUIRED TO REMAIN ON CAMPUS FOR THE DURATION OF THE EMERGENCY.

Essential Functions Sales/Marketing Goals and Strategy Responsible and accountable for assigned sales for the Independent Living areas. Reach and maintain personal strategic goals and targets for independent living occupancy as directed. Maintain required quotas of calls, contacts, tours, etc. Develop and maintain a healthy database of potential clients; keep current and accurate records of all leads and prospects. Maintain required reporting and statistics. Skillfully interview prospects to evaluate and ascertain how SJP will meet their needs. Using positive communication techniques, educate prospects about St. James Place’s mission and philosophies, expectations for services, and contract options and fees. Collaborates with the Sales Coordinator to ensure that all documentation and paperwork related to the move-in or move-out process has been executed according to regulations and SJP policy. Performs on-call assignments as needed and directed. Leadership, Communication, and Teamwork Collaborates effectively with other departmental directors and makes recommendations regarding ideas for positive change or improvement. Participates in the development of the marketing and communications strategy. Maintains effective communication with management regarding sales efforts, census updates and goals reached. Maintains effective public relations and customer service efforts. Collaborates effectively with consultants and agencies as needed. Interacts in a professional manner with all staff, residents and visitors. Leads or participates in team meetings, events and training as required and directed. Participates in continuing education opportunities for personal growth and professional development. Accomplishes other duties and tasks as assigned by the Director of Sales. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; ability to utilize proper body mechanics.
