Communications Manager Junior League of New Orleans 4319 Carondelet Street, New Orleans, LA 70115 The Junior League of New Orleans (JLNO) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. We are dedicated to advancing the well-being of women and families in the Greater New Orleans area through community programs, advocacy, and civic leadership. Position Summary JLNO seeks a dynamic and mission-driven Communications Specialist to lead the creation and execution of strategic communications that raise awareness, engage stakeholders, and enhance the organization’s public presence. This role requires a strong storyteller who can translate JLNO’s work into compelling content across digital, print, and media platforms. The ideal candidate is proactive, creative, and comfortable working collaboratively across departments and with volunteers. Experience in nonprofit communications, digital strategy, and community-focused storytelling is highly valued. Key Responsibilities Strategic Communications & Storytelling Develop and execute an integrated communications plan aligned with JLNO’s mission and goals Create compelling narratives that highlight JLNO’s community impact and member experience to internal and external audiences Monitor and assess the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-informed adjustments Digital Content & Social Media Manage content creation and publishing across all JLNO social media channels(Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) Maintain and update website content (WordPress or similar CMS) to ensurerelevance and brand consistency Produce e-newsletters, event promotions, and digital campaigns Analyze digital engagement metrics and provide regular reports Public Relations & Media Cultivate media relationships and coordinate media outreach for events,initiatives, and announcements Draft press releases, op-eds, and talking points Serve as a point of contact for press inquiries and public statements Print & Visual Communications Design or coordinate the design of print materials such as flyers, brochures, and annual reports Ensure consistent branding and voice across all platforms and publications Creation of ads for paid media Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills across formats Strong knowledge of social media platforms, analytics tools, and best practices Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and basic photo/video editing Familiarity with website CMS (e.g., WordPress), email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by events and/or communication needs Preferred Qualifications Experience working with volunteer-led organizations or women’s leadership groups Basic photography and videography skills Benefits Competitive salary Flexible work environment Paid time off and holidays Opportunities for professional development Meaningful work in support of women’s leadership and community change
