In this role, you’ll ensure that every message sent to our auto and home insurance customers is aligned with our brand voice

  • while also being relevant, timely, accurate, and easy to understand.

This is a critical position that sits at the intersection of Customer Service, Claims, Technology, and Legal. You’ll be responsible for improving the clarity and consistency of outbound communications and helping customers better navigate complex insurance topics with confidence. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to audit current communications, systems and processes, and work to streamline message delivery and build a scalable framework for future outreach.

Responsibilities:

Audit and map all customer-facing communications (letters, emails, SMS) across the customer journey

  • from quotes to renewals, billing, claims, and cancellations.

Rewrite and optimize high-volume templates to ensure messages are clear, compliant, and written in plain language that reflects our brand tone. Build and maintain a centralized messaging library and governance process to track content ownership, versions, and approvals. Partner with Legal to ensure all messages meet regulatory standards and state-specific insurance requirements. Ensure company brand style guidelines for tone, structure, and terminology are accurately reflected in each communication. Create and improve templates for recurring policyholder messages (e.g., declarations, non-renewals, lapse notices, claims updates). Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Service, Claims, Product, and IT to align communication delivery systems and improve message timing and targeting. Measure and report on message performance (readability, response rates, call deflection, etc.) to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. 5-7 years of professional experience in communications, content strategy, or customer experience—ideally in the property & casualty insurance industry. Strong writing and editing skills with an ability to simplify technical or regulatory content. Knowledge of personal lines insurance processes and documents (e.g., policies, billing cycles, claims lifecycle). Experience working in regulated environments and collaborating with legal/compliance teams. Familiarity with messaging platforms, document generation tools, and customer communication management (CCM) systems. Organized and detail-oriented with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities across departments. Thorough understanding of communications (design, build, and segmentation) and familiarity with email best practices (deliverability, A/B testing, dynamic content, campaign automation, etc.). Strong ability to analyze data and use insights to improve content and engagement. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to solve problems independently. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
