Job Description
Community Resource Specialist 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 25 Beach Street, Dorchester, MA 02122 The Community Resource Specialist (CRS) enhances skill development and social interactions for individuals preparing for the workplace. Responsibilities include facilitating teamwork, communication, and problem-solving activities while maintaining a supportive environment. The CRS must be punctual, flexible with daily assignments, willing to volunteer, and able to drive in the Boston community. Additionally, the CRS should keep case records, and the Emergency Fact Sheet updated to ensure safety and effective responses in emergencies. Be able to be on time and present for the entirety of scheduled shifts. Participate and lead community activity groups (social and volunteering). Must focus on the safety of the individuals during pick-ups, drop-offs, and activities. To minimize the risk of falls, assist individuals in and out of the van. Always watch the individuals while out in the community to ensure their safety. (Eyes On Approach) Understanding cognitive disabilities and their implications for the individual’s daily life functions and comprehension. Be patient and explain instructions to individuals and be willing to repeat instructions when necessary. Being flexible, willing, and understanding of the need to change daily groups, volunteering sites, and van assignments. Executing daily tasks such as completing paperwork thoroughly and returning all assigned items (van keys, cellphones, membership passes, money, and paperwork) to designated areas. Develop community-based activities to enhance skills and confidence. Provide innovative ideas of places to visit and lunch sites. The CRS must take the Emergency Fact Sheet (EFS) Book with them during all activities and keep it in a safe location with them. Do not leave the EFS book in the van. Develop and implement community-based activities to help build the individual’s skills and confidence towards work. Be willing to participate in Vocational, Health & Wellness, Practical Life and Art, Culture & Community.
