Responsibilities include negotiating collective bargaining agreements, representing teachers and school employees in grievances, arbitration, mediation, fact-finding, working cooperatively with leaders to support and assist in promoting membership, organizational development and community organizing. The position requires a team player who will work cooperatively and effectively with NEA-NH staff, members, and leaders within the educational community. Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. Considerable experience in collective bargaining, grievance processing and dispute resolution required. Must have effective oral and written communication skills. Computer proficiency required. Prior employment in union field work is highly desired. 2024-2025

Schedule:
Monday to Friday Duties The UniServ Director works independently under the direction of the Executive Director. Organizing and consulting with locals in the negotiation and enforcement of teacher and educational support staff collective bargaining agreements, including but not limited to negotiating collective bargaining agreements, serving as bargaining spokesperson as requested by locals, and organizing and coordinating crisis action when necessary. Representing locals and members in grievance arbitration, mediation, and fact-finding proceedings with local administrators and school boards, and before the Public Employee Labor Relations Board and at NH statutory appeals hearings. Working cooperatively with leaders to support and assist locals in promoting membership, internal organizing, organizational development, political and community organizing and dealing with challenges facing public schools and education employees. Providing association training at local, regional and statewide training events. Provide association training at seasonal and The Summer Learning Conference. Attend ongoing NEA and other professional development programs. Participation in various association staff and leader collaborative work groups promoting various association programs, including but not limited to training, school restructuring, Health Care, Technology, Membership etc. Assignment to ad hoc work groups during political campaigns, crisis management, and other projects that arise from time to time. Assisting locals during MOM (Messaging, Organizing, and Mobilizing) campaigns, school board campaigns, and contract and budget campaigns. Working to ensure the implementation of association program priorities of member advocacy, public affairs and support of public schools and education. Regular attendance at NEA-NH staff meetings and Regional Council meetings. The UniServ Director is expected to work cooperatively and effectively with NEA-NH leaders and management, other association staff and members. Serve on NEA-NH committees if requested. Such other duties as may be assigned. Requirements Considerable experience in Collective bargaining, grievance processing, rights and interest arbitration and multiple methods of impasse and conflict resolution. A thorough working knowledge of, and experience and understanding of federal and state laws and standards governing public education. Knowledge, experience, and understanding of the New Hampshire public sector bargaining law, including NHPELRB regulations and procedures, and NH education laws and standards preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills, both with groups and individuals. Extensive ability to work collaboratively as well as coach local leaders towards success. Leadership skills, including the ability to think and plan strategically. Valid driver’s license and a good driving and employment record.
