Job Description

Job Description Under the supervision of a Deputy Director, Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) and in close cooperation with Borough Office leadership, the Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) Liaison will:

  • Assist in the resolution of community and elected official concerns and inquiries regarding compliance with the New York City Building Code and Zoning Resolution.
  • Attend full Community Board meetings, District Service Cabinet meetings, Civic Association meetings, taskforce meetings and visit locations that are the subject of community interest.
  • Assist with community engagement activities such as explaining Department policies and procedures with respect to the application and interpretation of the Building Code and Zoning Resolution.
  • Brief the Director of Community Engagement or Deputy Director, IGA on enforcement and development matters.
  • Engage with Community Engagement and Programming staff to coordinate needs for community and interagency meeting.
  • Engage with construction workers and contractors to promote safe construction best practices.
  • Work with Department Communication and Community and Programing staff to maximize impact of outreach campaigns.
  • Coordinate distribution of neighborhood specific materials to better inform the public about certain construction work occurring in their community.
  • Actively identify the needs of non-technical stakeholders concerning new laws, rules and policies that may affect them.
  • Assist the Office of the Tenant Advocate (OTA) in resolving complaints about construction work in occupied multiple dwellings.
  • Prepare correspondence to elected officials, community boards and other interested parties concerning the Department Regulatory Code activities.
  • Assist with other tasks and special projects at the behest of the Director of IGA and Borough Office leadership.
REMOTE WORK

This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program.

COMMUNITY COORDINATOR
  • 56058 Qualifications 1.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above. Salary Min:

$ 62,868.00

Salary Max:

$ 72,298.00
