POSITION REPORTS TO

AVP for Institutional Advancement
• Summary of Position The Assistant Director of Annual Giving plays a critical role in advancing the institution’s philanthropic goals by implementing strategic annual giving initiatives. This position works closely with the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement to develop and execute direct mail and email fundraising campaigns, support Giving Day efforts, and engage both internal and external fundraising volunteers. The Assistant Director manages a targeted portfolio of TAC-level donors, prospects, and reunion celebrants, with a focus on increasing TAC membership, the number of recurring donors, and donor retention. Additional responsibilities include tracking and analyzing the performance of annual giving channels; managing pledge reminders, anniversary mailings, and recurring gift programs; and executing one-off crowdfunding initiatives.
• As the Assistant Director of Annual Giving , you will:
Collaborate with the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement to develop content and manage segmentation, scheduling, and vendor coordination for all annual giving appeals. Channels include direct mail, email, social media, websites, and Giving Day communications targeting alumni, parents, friends, employees, and students.
Serve as the staff liaison for fundraising volunteers during Giving Days and other initiatives. Provide training, resources, and assignments; track volunteer involvement; report outcomes; and implement stewardship efforts. Maintain volunteer records in the database.
Manage a portfolio of 100+ unassigned LYBUNT alumni donors (giving $1,000+ annually). Engage through video meetings, phone calls, email, and handwritten outreach to improve donor retention and increase giving levels. Support reunion fundraising efforts by soliciting recurring gifts and leadership-level contributions (TAC).
Handle day-to-day annual giving operations including anniversary mailings, pledge reminders, and follow-up on gift commitments. Ensure timely, accurate, and donor-centered communications.
– Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required
1-3 years’ experience required, 4-7 years preferred
Foundational understanding
Proficient in Google Suite of products
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Excel
Requires superior listening, strong oral and written communication, and sophisticated interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Initiative, self-motivation and attention to detail are essential.
Organizational and time management skills
Volunteer management, fundraising, writing solicitations, comfort with carrying a conversation over the phone and via video.

COMPENSATION

New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected starting salary range for this position is $47,000 to $50,000 annually. This position is full time, exempt.
