The ideal candidate has strong broadcast and communication skills, an exceptional work ethic and is detail oriented.
Essential Functions/ Major Responsibilities:
Produce all broadcasts and be responsible for all broadcast functions including recording/playing advertisements. Play-by-Play Broadcaster for all home and away games via the team’s online platforms Mixlr & FloSports. Serve as primary contact with all broadcast providers regarding format and other broadcast technicalities for setup and execution of all games. Host and help produce video content for the team including game previews and other player/staff interviews. Create and update team’s game notes and biographies prior to each game. Serve as the liaison between the team and the off-ice officials on gameday, including setting up all off-ice equipment. Host and produce team podcast. Help with video editing as needed for highlights and social media posts. Proactively cultivate relationships with diverse local media outlets, continually seeking innovative opportunities for business and hockey coverage across print, digital, radio, and television platforms to expand audience reach and elevate brand visibility. Leverage relationships to grow master media distribution list. Coordinate statistics, game footage, and player transactions with the hockey operations staff and the ECHL. Oversee all team communications including writing press releases, roster updates, announcement of team news on social media and maintaining the Stingrays website. Assist in all team website functions. Assist in building content for marketing campaigns using Adobe Suite Programs (Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects) and other programs as applicable. Assist with all social media marketing and advertising campaigns. Write feature stories for team website and social media platforms. Serve as primary point of contact between front office and hockey operations for media appearances, media day, and other events Assist in the team’s corporate fulfillment for broadcasts. Oversee all archival of team media including photos, video, and historical statistics. Assist with events to market the team in the community. Emcee press conferences and other events for major team announcements and functions. Ability to sell Ticket plans or Corporate Partnerships.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 2-4 years working in sports media relations, public relations, communications, journalism, or related professional experience. Bachelor’s in Communications, Journalism, Media, Sports Management, or related degree – Required. Proficient in Adobe Suite Programs for necessary job functions. Ability to be on-site at all home games and events, frequent attendance at practices and other activities in the market, as well as occasional team travel to away games and events.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated knowledge of hockey, with a strong understanding of the game’s structure, terminology, and culture to effectively support all aspects of the position. Proven expertise in Communications and Broadcasting, demonstrated through a track record of broadcast experience, producing and writing compelling and creative content, and research skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. Proactive approach to enhancing departmental processes and emerging industry trends and best practices. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, ensuring the timely achievement of goals and objectives. Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessitated by game/event schedules and project deadlines, demonstrating a commitment to meeting organizational needs even on short notice.
