We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Government Affairs Coordinator to join our dynamic team and help lead the charge in shaping our state’s legislative landscape.

Your Role:

As a Government Affairs Coordinator, you will be at the heart of our efforts to influence legislation, engage with key stakeholders, and advocate for impactful change. You’ll support the day-to-day operations of our Government Affairs department, ensuring everything runs smoothly while keeping our members informed and engaged. Your work will touch a variety of exciting areas, from legislative monitoring to PAC management, grassroots campaigns, and policy communications. Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate Key Administrative Functions:

Be the right-hand person to the EVP, Chief Government Affairs Officer, scheduling meetings, handling ethics filings, and ensuring seamless communication of legislative updates to Chamber members.

Create and Distribute Policy Content:

Play a key role in crafting engaging policy content that informs and mobilizes our members through various media platforms. Engage with

Stakeholders:

Act as the liaison to our Chamber policy committees, keeping them updated with the latest legislative developments and facilitating effective communication.

Legislative Monitoring:

Stay on top of critical bills by tracking legislative hearings and analyzing House and Senate journals to ensure Chamber priorities are addressed.

Grassroots Campaigns:

Work with the Government Affairs and Marketing teams to develop strategies that rally community support for important legislation through in-person meetings, written communications, and social media outreach. Manage the

SC Chamber PAC:

Oversee day-to-day operations of the Chamber’s Political Action Committee, assist with fundraising, and ensure its effective functioning.

Conduct Policy Research:

Dive deep into issues affecting the business community and provide valuable insights to the team and stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities:

As needed, you’ll support a wide range of projects and initiatives, contributing to the success of our advocacy efforts.

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in communications , Political Science, Economics, Public Relations, or a related field. 1+ Year of Relevant Experience (internships welcome), with a passion for public policy, government relations, or political advocacy.

Strong Communication Skills:

You’ll need to excel in both written and verbal communication, translating complex policies into clear, actionable messages.

Tech-Savvy:

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and able to navigate digital platforms with ease.

Organized and Detail-Oriented:

With a flair for juggling multiple tasks, you can prioritize effectively and meet tight deadlines.

Team Player:

A positive, self-motivated, and professional demeanor with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Legislative Insight:

Ability to read and analyze legislation, understanding its impact on the business community.

Critical Thinking:

You’re quick on your feet, solving problems and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
